Ikelite releases their Underwater Housing for the Sony a1 II

The Sony a1 II is a powerhouse mirrorless camera that excels in underwater photography, offering a perfect blend of high resolution, speed, and advanced autofocus. With its 50-megapixel full-frame sensor, the camera captures stunning detail, making it ideal for capturing the vibrant colors and intricate textures of marine life. Its 30 fps continuous shooting ensures you never miss a moment, while the real-time tracking and eye autofocus (for humans, animals, and birds) keep your subjects sharp even in dynamic underwater environments. For videographers, the Sony a1 II’s 8K video capabilities and 5-axis in-body image stabilization deliver cinematic-quality footage, even in challenging conditions.

With majority of the minor improvements made over the Sony a1 being internal, the minor adjustments to the outer ergonomics meant that the housings for the a1 would not fit this latest update from Sony. The first manufacturer to provide us with an underwater housing for the Sony A1 II is Ikelite.

Reliably, Ikelite's Sony a1 II Underwater Housing is specifically engineered to meet the demands of underwater photographers, built with their specially formulated ABS-PC blend polycarbonate clear housing, the housing is both lightweight and incredibly durable, perfect for travel weight restrictions, and also easy to handle underwater. The Ikelite housing provides access to all essential controls except: Diopter adjustment, Focus mode dial; Joystick up/down/left/right (Joystick can be depressed), Control wheel; Control wheel functions may be accessed using the Front and Rear Dials. The housing is made to fit the Dry Lock (DL) Port System, has a built-in vacuum system to assist with pre-dive checks to see if there are any breaks in the o-ring sealing system prior to going diving. The Ikelite Sony a1 II underwater housing comes standard with Ikelite bulkhead with Manual Hotshoe, allowing the option to trigger underwater strobes in manual mode, with the option of adding a TTL trigger for more precise underwater lighting.

Together with the standard M16 threaded bulkhead, Ikelite have added an extra M24 Bulkhead port to accommodate an HDMI 2.0 external monitor.

The Ikelite Sony A1 II underwater housing is available from Bluewaterphoto for US$2095 (also available in the Deluxe Version). For any questions about this housing or other housing, do not hesitate to contact the team at Bluewaterphoto Store.
