The Newest Underwater Photo & Video Gear in 2024

Every year, we attend the DEMA (Diving Equipment and Manufacturing Association) tradeshow - the world's largest Dive Industry and Underwater Photo Industry show. This year, DEMA 2023 was held an New Orleans, a city of excellent food and rich culture. What surprised us was just how many new underwater photo & video manufacturers are entering the market and making incredible strides in engineering underwater photo & video equipment. There were too many for us to cover everyone, but we wanted to share with you, some of the top updates from DEMA 2023. One thing is for sure - this is looking to be the year of the strobe. With so many new strobes on the market like the Scubalamp D-Pro, Sea & Sea YS-D3 Duo, Kraken KS-160 Strobe, Ikelite DS232 strobe, and Inon S-220, it's exciting to see developments in technology that has otherwise been fairly stagnant. As we move into 2024, we'll start to see a lot of this new equipment changing photography, and you can be sure, we'll be reviewing it all! 

Nauticam - Fisheye Conversion Port (FCP)

The Nauticam fisheye conversion port (FCP) is the latest water contact optic from Nauticam. We got a first hand look at this exciting new gadget at DEMA 2023. This conversion port can convert a full frame lens @ 28mm to 180 degree fisheye. It has full zoom through capability and is able to produce FOVs of 180 to 130 degrees.

Light & Motion - Sola X

The Sola X is an incredible new underwater video light from Light & Motion capable of 10,000 lumens of video output and a 20,000 lumens burst mode - as fast as 30fps at full power. Marelux - Apollo III Underwater Strobe

The Marelux Apollo III (formerly Apollo 33) is a revolutionary underwater strobe that is sure to change the artform of underwater photography. The strobe boasts a 0.6 second recycle time at a full power of GN33. It is equipped with multiple shooting modes including TTL, RC TTL, HSS, and a new multiple flash mode. The strobe also has a red and white aiming light that can turn off automatically during a flash. With a retail price of $899, the Apollo III is priced extremely competitively.
