“Jack Fish Parade”

The story:  Cabo Pulmo is a national marine park on the east coast of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, which was created just 21 years ago.  The park is very closely managed, with a subdivision into grids where only a certain number of divers are allowed per month.  The large schools of jacks are one of the main local attraction, and this was our second trip to Cabo Pulmo

While we dove with one of those large schools only once during our prior trip, we were more lucky this year as we were able to dive twice with one of those schools of jack fish.  This picture also greatly benefited from the persistence of our dive team, as we had to wait one hour on the boat for the school to get out and one of a guide hat had reached its maximum of divers for the month.

At some point during the dive, I spotted a large and beautiful surgeonfish and managed to place myself with the jack school in the close background, with the light coming from the front.  I feel that this picture illustrates very well the diversity of Cabo Pulmo’s marine life

Location:  Cabo Pulmo, Mexico

Camera:  Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 8-15mm (F10, 1/100, ISO200 ) with Nauticam Housing and Dual Sea & Sea YS-D1 Strobes.
