Torpedo ray and blacksmith school at Farnsworth Banks, Catalina island, California

Farnsworth Banks, on the back side of Catalina Island, is a site that is known for patrolling torpedo rays.  On this summer day, there seemed to be more than usual, hunting among a huge school of blacksmith.  It occurred to me that a torpedo ray would make an excellent subject for a circular image, but they are only about a meter in diameter and can produce a powerful electrical shock; I would have to get very close with my 8 mm lens!  I approached the underside (or "business side") of this ray very closely, taking just a few images before backing off.
