Underwater Photo contests - Jan 15th deadline

Two major underwater photography contests have a deadline for entries coming up soon - January 15th. Both are hosted by DivePhotoGuide and WetPixel.

Our world underwater competition

• $45,000 in prizes, $10 per photo entry fee
• Prizes include resorts and liveaboards spread out around the world.
• Categories are Macro (restricted and unrestricted), Wide angle (restricted and unrestricted), Super Macro, Compact Cameras, Novice, 5 minute Video (general and conservation)

Deep indonesia competition

• $35,000 in prizes, $10 per photo entry fee
• Prizes include many southeast asia resort & liveaboard trips.
• Categories are compact cameras, divers, Animal portrait, Animal behavior, Reefscapes, Environment / Conservation and Indonesia residents.

15% of proceeds go to marine conservation efforts.

Both contests have great prizes, and lots of healthy competition since many good underwater photographers enter them. The judging panel looks very solid to me, including Alex Mustard, Eric Cheng, Tony Wu and others. Both contests have a reputation for awarding prizes in a timely manner.
