Nauticam releases the new Nikon Z50 II Underwater Housing

Nauticam has finally released a new housing for Nikon latest APS-c camera, the Nikon Z50 II. Following on the from the Nauticam Nikon Z50 housing, this NA-Z50II housing is designed specifically for the Nikon Z 50 II mirrroless camera, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance underwater. With a slightly different design from the original housing, theis version fits like a clamshell around the camera, which allows for a simple drop-inn installation of the camera, without the need for a camera tray, creating a snug fit around the camera.
Build Quality:
With regards to design and build quality - once again the the NA-Z50II is crafted from high-grade aluminum, ensuring durability and resistance to harsh underwater conditions. The housing is designed to be compact, making it easy to transport and handle during dives, which will suit travelling photographers who require compact systems in order to meet airline requirments. The housing features ergonomically placed controls that allow for easy access to essential functions, such as shutter release, exposure compensation, and video recording. For those who enjoy capturing video, the housing comes with dedicated buttons for video recording, making it easy to switch between stills and video.
Lens Compatibility:
The most interesting development, and a deviation from the design of the original Nauticam Z50 housing, is that the NA-Z50II is designed to work exclusively with the Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm lens, which offers versatility for various shooting scenarios. The housing features a fixed flat port, with a pre-installed bayonet mount, that is compatible with Nauticam's WWL-C wide-angle wet lens and CMC-1 macro optic, allowing you to switch between wide-angle and macro photography seamlessly while underwater.
Vauum Check & Leak Detection:
One of the most critical aspects of underwater photography is ensuring the housing remains watertight. The NA-Z50II comes equipped with a built-in vacuum check and leak detection system, providing peace of mind while diving. This system continuously monitors the housing's integrity, alerting you to any potential leaks.
Flash Triggering:
The NA-Z50II housing utilizes the Z50 II's pop-up flash for TTL (Through The Lens) flash triggering, which is essential for achieving well-lit underwater images. The housing features integrated fiber-optic bulkheads, allowing you to connect external strobes for even better lighting options.
