Ikelite Housings Are Now Compatible with External Monitors
External monitors and recorders are a great tool for underwater video shooters to visualize footage and unlock important features on their camera. They are particularly useful tool for video shooters using the Sony A1, Sony A7S III, and Nikon Z7II who will be able to shoot at higher bit rates with different codecs or RAW files. Until recently, it was not possible to shoot with an external monitor with Ikelite housings if you were planning on using an HDMI 2.0 cable. HDMI 2.0 cables have quicker data transfer rates than HDMI 1.4 and allow you to easily record 4K/60p video and sometimes higher frame rates. However, they are a little larger than HDMI 1.4 and require an M24 bulkhead.
Now it's possible to custom order an M24 bulkhead for your Ikelite housing so that you can use any accessories that require an M24 bulkhead, like the Atomos Ninja V. To do this, please contact sales@bluewaterphotostore.com, and the knowledgeable staff at Bluewater Photo will be able to special order an M24 bulkhead for a new underwater housing or adapt your current housing. Smaller, compact camera housings will likely be too small for most modifications.
