Nauticam releases Underwater Housing for the Panasonic S1R II Camera

The Nauticam NA-S1R II is a top-tier aluminum underwater housing designed to give you fast, intuitive access to all the essential controls of the Panasonic S1R II camera while submerged. This housing is a game-changer for underwater photographers and videographers, offering seamless integration with Nauticam’s extensive lineup of Water Contact Optics and accessories. Whether you’re shooting stills or video, the NA-S1RII enhances the already impressive capabilities of the S1R II, ensuring you capture stunning underwater imagery with ease.

The Panasonic S1R II mirrorless camera features a more compact and ergonomic design, with a dedicated "Movie" mode switch relocated below the drive mode dial. This frees up space on the exposure dial for five customizable mode positions, allowing you to save unique settings for both stills and video. The S1R II boasts a 44MP 8.1K sensor, a significant leap from its predecessor. This sensor not only delivers incredibly high-resolution stills but also supports 8K video recording at up to 30p, making it a powerhouse for hybrid shooters. Panasonic has also introduced phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) in the S1R II, addressing one of the most requested upgrades from users from the previous model. This, combined with improved subject tracking, ensures faster and more accurate focusing, even in challenging conditions. The new dual-gain ISO technology enhances low-light performance, while the Dynamic Range Expansion mode (available in V-Log) provides an extra stop of highlight detail, giving you more flexibility in post-processing.

Nauticam is known for it's premium design, so it's not surprising that one of the standout features of the NA-S1RII is its ergonomic design, which places most essential camera controls within easy reach. The S1R II’s video/still mode selection switch is now conveniently accessed via a lever on top of the housing, allowing you to switch modes quickly and effortlessly underwater. The rear door latch features their custom swivel locking mechanism, while the rear door swings open to allow the camera to be inserted or removed.

The NA-S1RII is built around the N120 port system, featuring a large port opening that not only supports a wide range of lenses but also integrates seamlessly with Nauticam’s Water Contact Optics, such as the WACP-1B or WACP-2, depending on your choice of lens. These Wet Optics deliver the sharpest and most vibrant underwater images possible.

For photographers who rely on the use of underwater strobes, the NA-S1RII is compatible with Nauticam’s Mini Flash Trigger. This innovative accessory uses small LED units to trigger external flashes via Nauticam Universal Fiber Optic Cables, ensuring rapid-fire manual flash triggering with precision and reliability.

For videographers that prefer to use an external monitor while shooting underwater, the NA-S1RII comes equipped with a large M24 bulkhead, enabling the use of Nauticam’s HDMI system to connect external monitors or recorders, such as the Nauticam Atomos Ninja V Monitor. Additionally, the housing features 8 1/4"-20 mounting holes on top, providing a sturdy base for attaching larger accessories like monitors or lights.

For safety and peace of mind underwater, the Nauticam NA-S1R II housing ships standard with a built-in vacuum check and leak detection system. This system provides constant updates on the housing’s watertight status. For additional security, the optional Nauticam vacuum valve can be installed, allowing you to carry out a pre-dive check on the integrity of the o-rings and the housing watertight seal.
