Underwater Festival starting in 9 days, $150,000 worth of prizes

Underwater shootout occurs through Australasia Sept 2nd to 11th, 2011

There's a shootout occuring in the 25 countries that make up Australasia, starting soon. Take photos or video anywhere underwater in those countries from September 2nd - 11th, and submit the best ones to win great prizes! It costs $50 AUD to enter. You must change the date on your camera, and keep all of the photos you take during that period, so be sure to carefully review the rules. The event is organized by Underwater Australasia. The 5th Underwater Festival - The Australasian Challenge - 9 days to go!

The 2011 Underwater Festival is a Photo and Video Shootout competition held from Friday the 2nd to Sunday the 11th of September 2011 simultaneous in the whole of Australasia. Like an 'Underwater Earth Hour' the aim is to capture a snapshot of the region to show the world what we've got to lose.

There are over $150,000 in prizes (dive trips, dive and camera gear etc) and we would love you to become part of it and help us by telling all your underwater photo/video friends about it. Prizes are listed here: http://underwaterfestival.org/prizes-and-awards/

There is no need to spend big bucks on dive trips to remote locations, you can also go diving in your 'own backyard' - every dive site in the 25 countries we call Australasia is a shootout location, as long as photos and videos are taken between 2nd and the 11th of September 2011 they are eligible for entry.

$25,000 in prizes will be drawn amongst all entrants, independent of their entry quality to encourage broad participation without the fear of 'not being good enough' to win. http://underwaterfestival.org/prizes-and-awards/#USPP

Winners presented at ODEX

The 2011 Festival with culminate 7-9 October at ODEX 2011 in Brisbane where the best 100 entries will be presented as a major feature of the show and there will be a mini Underwater Film Festival.
