2nd Place Nudibranchs Ocean Art 2020 Luca De Pauli
2nd Place Nudibranchs
Luca De Pauli
"Queen of Sistiana"
Luca De Pauli won a gift certificate from Bluewater Photo and Bluewater Travel.
The Story: The title of the picture aims to explain the role of Luterosea, which symbolizes the diving site where it was captured: a unique location in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, which is akin to a Mediterranean version of Lembeh Island thanks to its extraordinary biodiversity, including more than a hundred species of different nudibranchs that are found in this ecosystem throughout the year.
While it is not difficult to find a Luterosea, it is quite challenging to spot the ideal angle to do her justice and represent her royal composure, for which she has received the well-deserved title of “Queen of the Sistiana nudibranchs”.
This picture was shot using a Snooty snoot, a tool which was imagined and produced by the outstanding underwater photographer Fabio Iardino and is the final and most successful shot among a series dedicated to the small yet precious animal.
