"Magic Octopus"

 

The Story: Night diving the temperate waters of Port Phillip Bay aren’t what most Melbournians would call a fun Saturday night out. But as far as underwater photography goes, night time is when the bay comes alive.

In a small patch of empty seashells, juvenile octopuses take refuge from predators and the elements. By day, they remain hidden. By night, they come out to hunt. This individual was only a few centimetre

Location:  Australia, Port Phillip Bay

Equipment Used: Nikon D850, Nikkor 60mm Macro Lens, Ikelite Housing, Ikelite DS-160 Strobe with Home-made Snoot. Background created using 2 coloured XTAR D30 1600 torches on a metallic background.

Camera Settings: F7.1, 1/125 sec, ISO 100
